Thumbs up Verizon Treo 700p & 2007 BMW 530xi Bluetooth

Okay, I got a 2007 BMW 530xi Touring as a loaner car and tried pairing my Verizon Treo 700p which has the latest firmware Treo700p_-1.10-VZW and as predicted and mentioned by other members that IT WORKS!!

So, 2007+ BMWs with Bluetooth with iDrive will work with my Treo 700p. My contact "favorites" address book loaded up in the BMW iDrive screen. Treo paired up fine with the 2007 BMW. I made a few phone calls with no problem or dropping of pairing between the BMW and Treo.

In fact, it treats the BMW as a Bluetooth headset. I have no problems pairing with my Plantronics 665 headset with my Treo 700p either.

So does that mean I have to buy a new BMW to get my Treo 700p to work with Bluetooth?

Or does anyone have an older BMW like my 2001 X5 and a ULF that works with the Treo 700p?

I have a Sprint Treo 650 which synchronizes properly with Bluetooth in the car (07 E70) but will only display my favorites vice numbers listed under contacts. My question is whether you can get your full address book/contacts to display or just the separately listed favorites? Thanks, Roger

Okay, older E53 X5 which only has Visteon ULF without BMW Assist modules. The 2004 X5 came with BMW's attempt to combine BT and BMW Assist only for that module to have the BMW Assist portion function.

2005-2006 E53 X5 has the combo Motorola-based ULF/BMW Assist module working and apparently work with the Treo 700p.

So, BMW owners that only have the BT function on the Visteon ULF who retrofit it on their "older" 2000-2003 BMWs are SOL when it comes to the Treo 700p.

I believe the 2004 BMW X5 can be retrofitted to use the 2005+ BMW Assist/ULF combo module!

So Treo 700p with Visteon ULF no go, unless you have the 1st generation Visteon ULF ending in -552 from reports I have heard on other Bluetooth forums.

If you have a Motorola BT/BMW Assist combo ULF made for the 2005+ BMWs, you are pretty much good to go just as long you have the latest firmware on your Treo 700p.

I concur...I had both the Treo 650 and currently have the 700p and as far as I know, only the contacts on the "favorites" list will load up by default.

However, there is a trick you can do to have it load up all your contacts (will as many as the BMW Bluetooth system can hold).....

Check out this thread:
