Ipod - Bluetooth - X5?

I have a 2006 X5 with bluetooth capability. Can I hook up my iPod to the car via bluetooth? If I can, what do I need to buy?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum,

To play music? No, the ULF does not support this.

You may be able to make and receive calls though depending on what Gen of ULF you have.

All the posts I have read point to the fact that you need a 13th generation ULF to work with the iPhone.

it is a pitty that a 2 years old car can pair with a 2-3 years old phone.

In general, the BMW BT system will work with any new phone on the market, but there are the occasional exceptions. The good news is that you can very easily update the ULF module to match with a phone that "flexes" the BT standard a little bit.

As an example, Sony Ericsson is one of the developers of the BT standard. All of their phone work great and are fully functional with the earliest BMW ULF that I know. Other phone manufacturers, like Nokia, Apple, etc., may not pay as much attention to the BT standards and therefore release phones with issues.

Update?

You mean replacing the unit I guess?

Or is there a way to update the software to 13gen?

Regards,
Max
