Hey Ron - I don't know the answer to your question, but perhaps if you can list the exact steps you took in trying to set up your iphone, someone here might be able to see if you missed something...

Ok, here are the steps that I took.
1. replaced ULF module (hooked up to 54 pin and bluetooth antenna) 2. turned off wifi on Iphone 3. put Iphone in "search for devices" 4. held down the pairing button in X5 3. held pairing button for 5 seconds and then inserted key into ignition. 4. turned key to second place 5. still holding pairing button for 5 seconds and released 6. car displayed "pairing ??????" forgot the word 7. on phone entered in the pairing code, 4 digits 8. car beeped and then 3 lights kept flashing yellow, red, yellow on top right of navigation screen, well in the corner, not on the screen but on the unit above the buttons. 9. screen said pairing. 10. turned off car and restarted, after flashing for about 1 minute 11. phone paired with X5, telephone text on nav monitor is now visible. 12. car does a beep 13. about 30 seconds later, the bluetooth icon on the Iphone goes away and then starts to flash again. It is reconnecting up with the ULF module. 14. it continues to do this. the phone book is never transfered. 15. I go to the phone directory and it has no numbers in it, it then will go back to the screen where you would select the telephone. I think that the phone disconnects and then reconnects and the car looses connection. I have done the same pairing procedure with a Motorola Razr and it connects up the same. When I turn off the X5 and then on again, it pairs up just fine and works great. The phone book transfers and I can make calls and receive with no issues. I just can't seem to get the Iphone to stay connected long enough to work. |

Ok, I have an update. I was able to pair a friends Iphone with no issues. His version is 1.1.2. The other difference on the phone is the phone did not have a case on it. I took off my Agent18 case and it still did not work. I reset my Iphone by erasing all the data. The phone now works! I will have to get all my contacts and music back on my phone and see if it will still work.

voice quality is depend on Bluetooth reception. E53 BT arial in located in trunk, above nav computer and cd-changer. Try to take phone closer to arial. if it helps, you can install arial in C-pillar, as I did.
You need longer arial cable only. |

Update-
I have had it working for the last few weeks. It ended up being my phone book entries. It seems to not like the "&". In the names of contacts, I had John & Jane Doe. This had not been an issue with my 1st generation ULF module, but it has been for the 13th generation. It all works great. The phone book transfers and I can now make and receive calls. The clarity on the other end is great. My wife says it is similar to talking directly on the phone and not through the car. The only issue that I have is hearing what people are saying. I have turned up the bluetooth on the phone all the way (when on a call if you increase the volume, it shows that the "Bluetooth" is increasing) and done the voice command on "volume up" and the displays that the volume is all the way up. Is there another was to get it any louder? Using the radio volume knob does nothing. Thanks. Ron A. |

Ron,
Have you found a way to increase the phone volume? Anyone else know a way to make the speakers louder? Quote:
