I am having the same problem as you are. Just picked up my 05 X5 over the weekend and the phone keeps rebooting everytime it try to load the phone book. I have read on other post where some people got their treo 650 to work but I cant seem to do that either.
Let me know what you find out.

I am test driving a Cingular Treo 650 for another 25 days and after replacing my 1st handheld unit, I am getting some good results with the car BT setup. But I am using a V710, so good results to me might not be good to you.

I can pair the Treo and it is found by the car. I have the -552 module in my 2004 X. The car even recognizes the name of the phone - Treo 650. It grabs a few entries from the phonebook, like minutes used, dir assistance, etc... just the first 5 or so entries, none of which are useful to me.

I have made calls from the Treo itself and had the conversations over the handsfree system.

The BT got screwed up when my Treo went to check my email. I need to work on that.

I'll mess around with it more over the weekend and will post more info as I have it.

UPDATE on the 650

OK, all of the speed dials download into the car. I can cycle through them using the steering wheel buttons. The hands free works great. This is a huge improvement over my V710 in terms of BT functionality with the car. I am impressed with the thing and might end up keeping it.

I have installed the Cingular firmware update and the car kit update, all available at the PalmOne website.
