"Telephone" option won't show up

Hi everyone, I just bought a 05 X5 4.4 with Nav, but the "telephone" option won't show up on the display. I checked and it does have the bluetooth module in the back as well as the paperwork with the passkey, etc. so I know the previous owner was using it.

Is there a special way to initiate the module. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in as well as disconnecting the car battery, but still nothing. Any thoughts?

Is your phone compatible???
If it is did you turn on Bluetooth??

I have an 05 and if you press
the menu button you will see
the telephone option but it may not
do you a bit of good unless your
bluetooth in on.

Here's the manual http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/B8...ManualIBUS.pdf

Thanks for the reply. I've used my phone with an M5, so I know it's compatible, but the problem is that I don't even have the "telephone" option listed when I press menu.

check your fuses in the back.

First check the phone fuse in the back fuse compartment.

If the phone fuse is good, then it may be a wiring problem with the harness.

Hope this helps,

OK, I just swapped the Bluetooth module from a friends X5, and it worked perfectly, so there's probably a problem with my module. I guess I'm going to have to take it to a dealer. Does anyone know if this is covered under the CPO warranty?
