Nokia 8800 - Does it work?

Does anyone know if the Nokia 8800 work with the factory bluetooth kit. Nokia sends me off to BMW and BMW send me off to Nokia to find out if it works. I'm not about to buy one only to find out that it does not work.
I have a 05 X5 3.0 diesel
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

Good Question

Have had the same problem. BMW Aus Have given me a list of compatible phones, however there is only 4 I can choose from and only one Nokia which is the brand I prefer.

Maybe we could use this thread to start up a list of phones we know that are compatible to the factory Bluetooth kit?

Bad news I am afraid guys I got it to pair but kept disconnecting and reconnecting however Could read SMS on Nav Screen until it disconnected and reading them seemed to make it worse, also the phone book did not transfer either So I would give it a this phone a miss!

Thanks mate for your efforts. Hopefully one day Nokia and BMW may get together and sort it out. Not sure what I want to do now. On another note "X5 Sport" did you have any extra long sms's or did any sms have exclamation marks in the message. This I have seen and makes the phone disconnect and reconnect and continue to do so.

Would really like to know if this may have been the case.

Thanks again.

There was a lot of messages on the screen never seen it that full. I did not see any exclamation marks just * for un read messages will proberly see him on sunday night will try and get him to delete his SMS and try again. I did tey calling from the phone and did not connect with bluetooth that way either.

I did not really have that much time really but as it had been nearly two weeks since the first post wanted to try and get a answer if it worked for you.

One other thing he said he has run out of memory on the phone so not that impressed with it just looks real nice and that is about it.

I would have a look at the W800i which I have and that works perfect it just depends on what you want from a phone,I guess if you just use to make calls then the nokia will be good but if you lots of MP3's and videos get some thing else

I've read else where that a guy with an M5 has this phone working prefectly with the Bluetooth.

Surely because it doesn't work on yours is not a conclusive test as you may not have the latest ULF ?

There are many different ULF versions in cars and these all have different firmware therefore will surely have different support for different phones ?

I am just retro fitting at the mo to use my 8800 with it and I've bought the very latest one so maybe that will have more luck ?

I'll report back but like I said, a guy with an M5 in the UK ( I think he retro fitted ) hs this phone working perfectly.

X5 Sport, do you know what number your ULF is ?

Si

As per this article

http://www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-171.html

my X5 has the 6th generation module. The latest ULF is suppose to be the 7th generation. It was easy to check the part number. Just 3 plastic hex nuts to undo. I'm still trying to find someone to test the phone out with. I appreciate everyones help with this one.

thanks.
