Question E53 Snap in adapter for wide body Blackberry (curve, bold, storm etc)

hi, I have noticed that adapters for Blackberry 8900, 9000, 8300 and the like are out, but unfortunately they do not fit older bmw (E53, E39, E38, E46, E83)

so I am stucked with my BB 8120, but I would rather move to a qwerty type of BB.

I have seen that people here came with solutions for iphone where they somehow modified the originally designed for new bodies adapter to fit older models of cars.

my question is can we somehow modify the wide adapters or the docking place of the adapter to fit a wide snap in adapter?

TIA

the only thing that comes to mind is cutting the armrest to fit a wider adapter.

if I would decide to do that what would be the best way to make more space for a wide snap in adapter to fit?
