'factory resetting' or deleting BT ULF stored contents

I have just bought a 13th Gen brand new ULF module to replace the 5th Gen in my X3. Have NavCoder to be able to code the new ulf to the car (ident to the VIN etc) but I will want to sell on my perfectly OK 5th Gen.

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to effectively 'factory reset' the ULF to delete any phonebook entries or stored SMS's? Reason I ask is that when I bought the car CPO/AUC, the ULF was full of the previous owners SMS's. Don't want the new owner having mine

TIA

This is how you delete all previously paired phones and clear the information from the ULF:
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Push and hold pairing button (not the steering wheel button).
  3. Continue holding the piaring button and turn the key to position 2 (run position). Contunie holding the pairing button for another couple seconds.
  4. Release the pairing button when the "Bluetooth Pairing" message displays.
  5. Push and old the pairing button again. Hold it for about 10 seconds.
  6. You will get a "Paired Devices Deleted" messages when all phones have been deleted.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for that, but are you sure that deletes any/all of the entries/SMS's? Reason I ask is that I'm sure I did that before pairing my phone with the car when I first got it. Even so, I had about 200 SMS's in there from the previous owner which I just couldn't get shot of in one go and had to go through deleting each one manually. It was actually quite a revelation reading their life story by SMS

As far as I know, there are no current stored SMS's in there, though there are a load of voice dial numbers - but without having a phone now that will exchange the phonebook or SMS's I can't check 100%.

Cheers.

That is the way to delete all phone, SMS and phone book entries, so it should have done it.

BTW, have you sold thew old ULF yet mate?

It might (but don't hold your breath), Also the iphone needs the latest version of firmware on for it to even have a chance of working.

Just installed the Gen13 and coded using NavCoder (BT ID on uncoded is 'BMW ULF' as opposed to BMW xxxxx where xxxxx is the VIN) - works a treat.

Unpaired all and also did a 'Delete Phonebook' or whatever the voice command was to get rid of all the voice dialling entries.

Still have the old Gen5 ULF which I was going to bung up on ebay - it's not a 'MIT SES' however it coded up perfectly with NavCoder and I've been using the Voice Recognition since Jochen enabled the option in his software.

Are you looking for a ULF?

Won't sync phone book/SMS's - seemed to work OK pairing though but it annoys the hell out of me that I can't keep the phone in my pocket and scroll through my phonebook. I did keep all my regular contacts in the Voice Dialling pool though which made it a bit easier.

Wasn't going to pay BMW £900 for a new module but managed to get one for half that - still expensive but I don't intend to sell the car anytime soon.
