2005 X5 4.4 Microphone Wire Location?

I just bought a 2005 X5, navigation, sport, cold weather, sirius.
Anyways, I would like to hook up the bluetooth microphone and cannot locate the wire for it in the headliner.
I already found the microphone without the wire hooked up.
I have lowered the headliner and poked around in the area above the drivers head and could not locate the plug/wire taped to the larger wiring harness.
Any idea where the plug/wire could be?
Thanks.

ps, before I discovered the microphone not hooked up, I was able to pair a cell phone and did make a phone call and could hear the person but they could not hear me from the X5 so that tells me I have bluetooth.
I also have the talking head button and the R/T button on the steering wheel.

I have a 2005 X5, navigation and I use the phone all the time so there
is a bluetooth microphone. I use to have the "could hear the person but
they could not hear me" Problem until I paired the phone properly and turned
up the volume.

You didn't mention what kind of phone you were trying to pair.
Remember Not all phones are compatible so It may not be the X at all.

Thinking I do not have a microphone wire connection.

I know it is not a phone issue since when I removed the microphone, there was no wire coming into it. Yes, there was a microphone already there.

I lowered the headliner by removing the top middle console, removing the sunvisors, removing the 4 screws coming down from the top of the panoramic roof, removing the grab handles and loosening the pillars that go down each side of the windshield.
After doing all of that and looking and feeling around on the top side of the headliner, I still cannot locate a wire and wire connector which is just odd to me but maybe this X5 did not come with one.

I guess I would contact the previous owners if you can and ask them
what they might have done. Makes no sense to me .....

Bought it a local dealer as it was a trade in.
Oh well, guess I will put everything back together.
Other than not being able to find the microphone wire, I sure do like driving it !!!

You are looking for a 3 pin black plug with wires that route to the rear of the car. It is supposed to be near the mic where you were looking. It is X18507 and should be there some where. Maybe it is taped to the side of another cable in that area.

Does my X5 even have a microphone wire?

Now I wonder if my X5 even has the microphone wire/plug...
I have been able to pair my phone/make a phone call to listen to my voice mail.
BUT, after removing all of the black electrical tape from the above headliner harness, I cannot locate the black plug for the microphone..
Has anyone heard of an X5 with bluetooth that can make telephone calls but it does not have a microphone wire/plug????

Are you sure you have BMW Bluetooth? Does the caller ID work via the BMW radio? Are you able to make calls from the Telephone option on the satnav?
