2004 Bluetooth Pairing

I have a 2004, 4.4i.

It has the bluetooth module in the rear, bluetooth card in the owners manual. I can't get the phone to pair with the car. I've read something about a button in the center console, but I don't have one. Just the steering wheel buttons.

I have the telephone option on my nav screen, but can not pair my Android phone. Anyone have any ideas? Is the center console/arm rest button required?

I've ready through 20 threads on this board, but have seen no answer to the questions regarding the armrest button being required.

so you have the 4 digit bluetooth number?

sometimes I've had to put the phone near the rear for the initial setup...but all the instructions listed on xoutpost are accurate....or check your manual.

also, you BT could be disconnected as they are known to fail. Check fuses 73/74 i think.

finally, check this list for your part number to make sure you have BT

Module part number is..

84.11 6952218 - 01

It has the bluetooth symbol on the sticker as well as a descripton about BT containing FCC ID .......

So I would assume it has bluetooth.

per the document

TELEMATICS CONTROL UNIT CDMA Mar-04 Sep-04 84116952218 probably no bluetooth, but not sure

you have to have a 4 digit number on that sticker for it to have bluetooth. It will be next to "PK:"

see this one

How about this. I know this will be a bit of a shocker, but you probably don't have Bluetooth. Yes you have the module, but 2004, only came with the BMW assist, and the Bluetooth was just for that. It doesn't really work with the phones. Search the e53 forum for more info.

Now why would the car come with all the blue tooth info? Bluetooth pass key etc..?? There is also the bluetooth antenna installed in the back near the CD changed and NAV DVD.

My car was a late 2004 production, so it has an air cooled alternator and a bunch of other changes that the early 2004's didn't have.
