Phatbox in an X3 with premium sound?

I have a phatbox in my 330 coupe, which I’m trading in for a 2006 X3.

I’m getting the Premium Sound with the X3 because I don’t want to fool around with any aftermarket sound improvements and my 330 HK system was always good enough for me.

The only problem (I think) is that I think I read on BMWUSA.com that the premium sound option has DSP and on the Phatbox website it says you may require a special adapter for BMW’s with DSP.
Does anyone have an X3 with Premium sound and a phatbox and can confirm that I need to buy the DSP adapter? If I do need the DSP adapter is that all I need or do I still need the regular adapter that I’m using now?

Also, if I have Nav and the satellite radio options will this affect plugging in the Phatbox?

I understand that the CD changer wiring is located in the center console, does the phatbox fit in the center console (or that wishful thinking), any suggestions on where I can put the actual Phatbox unit?

I hate to ask so many question but the thought of not having my phatbox in my vehicle is kinda scary, I have grown quite fond of it.

I may take this one to a car audio place to get done, does anyone know of a place in the NY (long island) area that knows about the Phatbox (especially if I need the DSP hook-up), my local guy doesn’t.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you can offer, I really do appreciate it. Now my dealer said it's gonna be 6-8 weeks before my X3 arrives... (I can't wait) it's hard to believe that no dealers order X3's with premium sound.

i don't think you need a DSP kit as the DSP kit was for BMWs pre-03. it all depends on how the DSP is handled on your '06.

its VERY easy to add a DSP kit. if you can install a phatbox without a DSP kit, you can do one with.

no familiarity with X3, but in '03 and later X5, the DSP kit is not needed. the clincher is that my sister's 04 Z4 DOES need a DSP kit for the PB.

you run a 50/50 chance of requiring it. very easy to do, either way.
