iPod slow to change songs

I have an iceLink in both my bimmer's and I have a 3G and 5G iPod. I have noticed that the 5G iPod is somewhat slow to change songs or playlists. There is a good 2-3 second delay. No delay with the 3G iPod and thay have the exact same playlists on them. Anyone else run into this? thx

it seems to me that it might be an icelink issue. Is your 5G ipod slower when used without an Icelink connection?

I agree it is an iceLink issue. The 5G iPod is quick to skip to the next song when used on it's own, only slow when skipping to the next song when plugged into the iceLink.

There are a few discussions on delay using the 5G iPod (Video) with a slight delay on iPod Lounge - this is definitely not an ice>Link issue.

They seem to think it only affected the early 5G iPods, when was yours purchased?

I had this problem, but it was on a 4G Ipod and no relation to IceLink. It finally went dead and I had to have it repaired under warranty. I also have the new 5G color Ipod and it is faster than my piece of shit 4G Ipod that needed to be reapired TWICE in 1 1/2 years.

Best Buy now hasa 3 year warranty for the new Ipod. Whew...... cool ll things, but not the most durable.

I just got the iPod at Christmas, so it is fairly new. The strange thing is that I can skip ahead songs quickly on the iPod, it is only slow when plugged into the iceLink.

I have the same issue with my IPOD Video. I had a Ipod mini with Ice->Link in my BMW. The Ipod mini was very quick while the IPOD Video is very slow. When I spoke with Dension, they said that it was the IPOD, but I don't think so. What version of Ice->Link do you have?

I have a brand new Video 60GB Ipod and it is fine skipping to the next song (slightish delay, I suppose). But, if I try to skip forward 2 songs or more it slows right down and only goes to the next song. In other words, I can only skip to the next song.

Regards,

Dave

The way to verify that would be to test with another iPod. Do you have another iPod (possibly from a friend) you can test with?

Depends on file size, as the iPod only has a 32 meg buffer. If your songs are large or you have them at a high bitrate, this can cause some of the slowing.

It's also rumored that the 5G iPods are slower due to memory issues.
