Can my E53 provide an internet access point?

Hello this is my first post. I’m a new owner of an E53 (2006). Do you guys know if my X5 is capable of providing an internet access point? AT&T’s website says it can make it into a mobile Wifi hotspot. Now I’m sure that’s for newer models only but I figured it didn’t hurt to ask. I’d need to know if mine has a MSISDN or a Vehicle Mobile Number. I’m trying to find a cheap way to get Wifi in the E53 for a dashcam without using my phone as a hotspot. So far I can only come up with devices that connect into the OBDII port. It’s a 2006 X5 with the 4.8

No. There is no such capability in the e53 unfortunately. Unless you added an Android radio with a cell sim in it that is.

Thanks Crystalworks. I am having an Android unit installed but I don’t think it has a SIM card 🙇🏻*♂️

Then you would need one of those separate wireless carrier hot spots with a data plan.

If your dashcam is broadcasting a wifi signal (some of them communicate that way) your android unit should be able to connect to it. I've never liked wifi dash cams though as they tie up your wifi signal and prevent accessing the internet at the same time on the head unit.
