Bm54

Hi,

Does anyone know what type of Radio module is in a UK 06/2004 plate X5 with comms pack (MKIV navigation)? I think it's the Becker BM54, but aren't sure - it has split screen. I'd also like to identify the software that would be loaded on it e.g. V7, V8, V9.4, etc...

Is it possible to upgrade this software at the dealership i.e. to get MP3 support, etc, or do you need to purchase a new unit?

Thanks

From what I have gleaned and tried very late 05s onwards will recognise mp3 cds. Mine from sept 05 does not. It just comes up with no disc. I have heard that if you put an mp3 disc in it might come up with some error message but then play ok. So do not be put off by an error message just try it.

Again as I understand it it is a cd changer hardware issue but I will keep an eye on this thread to see what wisdom comes.

Thanks Jon.

I guess you also get the Dynamic Routing navigation option with your module, just no MP3? I've just bought a late 2005 (week 49) that is supposed to play MP3's and support Dynamic Routing so fingers crossed.
