2003 non-dsp amplifier pinouts

Some articles claim that the 2003 non-dsp amp has 26 pin output connector and the others say that there's 12 pins. So...is there 26 pins or 12?

One thing to remember... A non-dsp sound is a little wide definition since the system varies from market to market.

In NA there are two sound systems:
- Basic business system
- Premium with DSP.

In NA even the basic business system has an external amplifier in the trunk rear left corner.

In EU there actually are four different systems / combinations available:
- very basic system BMW CD (no external amp)
- BMW Business CD (no external amp??)
- Hi-Fi speaker system (external amp, same as US basic version)
- Hi-Fi Professional system (DSP amp)

I haven't added a sub to my NA X3 yet but I did add a sub in my Finnish spec E46 with Business CD (no external amp). I just grabed a speaker level signal from the rear speaker wire (see one pic where the blue/brown twisted wire can be seen crossing the trunk and fed that into the amp. I did use an amp that was able to receive differential high level signal (just in case I needed in the future). Never had a single problem. The amp also turned on itself based on the speaker signal so no remote turn on signal was needed.

Attached a few pics for fun. I came up with a removable subframe and removable take away if needed subwoofer. The latter was basically to enable easy access to spare tire if needed.
