Will a 97 E36 cd changer work in a 03 X5

Will a 97 E36 CD changer work in 2003 X5 as far as mounting goes? My X5 didn't come with the changer or brackets but I had one and I just plugged it in. Right now its kind of loose inside but I needed to know if the brackets made for the X5 will mount up to that CD Changer before spending 25 bucks for 2 cheasy brackets.
Thanks

Jason@BavSound is on a distinguished road
Gentlemen:

Please allow to introduce myself. My name is Jason Seaver, and I'm one of the owners of Bavarian Soundwerks. I've been installing audio for the last 12 years, and have exclusively worked on BMW's for the last 5. I can definitively answer any questions you may have about your X5's. I'm always around the shop, so don't hesitate to give us a ring. I have Micah (my partner) working on my signature now, but you can always click on the site sponsors for our contact info. I look forward to working with you guys, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

On to the question I should've already responded to..

Yes, the changer will mount in a very similar fashion. I've not done the exact swap you're asking about, but the changers have always been manufactured by Alpine, and Alpine hasn't changed their mounting design in 10 years.

Alternatively, try taking the changer into the parts department and seeing if the holes line up. If not, you can always swing by an Alpine dealer and ask one of the installers in the bay for some Alpine changer brackets. Trust me, he has some. Give him $10.
