I am currently in the middle of a Sirius retrofit. The problem that I am having is the radio is not picking up that I have Sirius hooked up. Using my navigation monitor, I go through all of the modes. When I have the Sirius hooked up there is a second 'TAPE' mode that appears, this has no noise to it. I think the radio is partially picking up the Sirius but I am not sure. I believe I do have all the correct parts. My X5 is a 2001 but it has a nav retrofit in it with a BM 53 radio dating July 2004. Is this a software problem in the BM 53 that needs to be updated? Or is this something else. I do have the OEM 6-Disc CD changer, that works great running through the Sirius receiver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Parts I have: 65 12 0 398 140 - Receiver 84 11 0 399 301 - Antenna 84 11 0 141 987 - CD Changer Cable 84 11 0 141 977 - Extension Cable |

You need the BM53 radio, and the MKIV navigation computer both for Sirius to work. In addition you need a new version of software in the MKIV computer. V27.1 works great

You also need to make sure that you are in US and not UK mode. UK mode gives you pre-turn advice in feet and US in fractions of a mile, if memory serves.
