Question European X5 Ice>Link Plus install: HELP PLEASE

Hi, I have been trying for two days to connect my Ipod. The car is a 10.2004 European X5 (British) with Nav, TV, CD changer. after searching for the radio module in the boot as advised by the vendor (www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk), I called my local dealer and he said that if the module is not in the boot, then it is in the front. so i removed the screen, and no, there are 2 small plugs, not the quare plug which came with the ipod.

my question is: where can the radio module be? I tend to think that it should be in the trunk, but can anyone explain please how to find it? there are a lot of wires and connections there, so please help me out here.

FWIW I recommend you send it back and get the Dension DICE kit from EAS or BSW if you are determined to use the Dension Icelink then get the cable from EAS that just links the CD changer 3 and 6 pin sockets to the PCB. If you do the UK version for connection to the tuner under the spare it is a pain and problematic. If you see other threads you'll see stuff on loss of Bluetooth, Nav,voice, poor connections etc etc it goes on.

I got the Ice link from the same UK company had the PCB replaced twice but still was temperamental kept cutting the link so I cut my losses and bought the DICE I have not had a problem since.

Pete's correct - the DICE is much easier to install since we use the CD Changer cables and not connect directly to the radio tuner, which is located underneath the spare tire.

Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions, we have more experience in this field than anyone.

The module is indeed under the spare tire, and if you have more than 3 cables in de white cd connector, you have to put these into the new icelink plug. These extra cables are for bluetooth and nav. If you skip these, no sound from you nav/bt is coming through. It is indeed quite a job to connect an icelink to a X5. I have done a few and it keeps me going for 2 hours each time. The cd connection link (also DICE) is much easier! However, in europe, we only have the icelink available.

It sounds like you purchased an ice>Link Plus locally (overseas) which uses the quadlock connector. The connector must be rewired or you lose the NAV and BT voice.

The kit should have come with instructions, if not - the audio port of the quadlock must be transferred over to your ice>Link Plus quadlock.
