Need Help: '05 x5 iPOD install with ice>link plus

newbie here:

have an 05 x5 w/o DSP. It has the navigation and cassette. The dension ice>link:plus hookup was about as easy as it gets (plug in play) however the only display i get is a 2 digit song number on both the cluster and the nav screen. No text, or menu features. At this point i cant scroll through the ipod either (i know the icelink locks out the thumbwheel), so how can i navigate through my music folders?

Will my headunit not support full text or the menu of the ipod? I was under the impression this kit would handle it, however maybe not. I have reviewed all the FAQ, and DIY's however everyone either has no nav w/ DSP, or a cd changer or some different combination head unit then I.

please help. I got this as a gift, and it appears dension's support is non existant.

mike

We stopped selling the ice>Links quite a while ago, but still have our ice>Link knowledgebase online. The article you need is here:

hey tom,

unfortunately nothing worked. When i selected cd 6 it would try and jump back into cd1 a few seconds later, however i managed to get it into cd6 long enough to get to the ice-link setup. But once in the ice link setup, i only got choices "update ice link", "about ice link", "random", and i believe there was 7 total selections none of which were titled "text selector."

I scrolled though just about every settings, and setup i could find with nothing related to text. I have re-booted the ipod, updated the latest firmware from apple, and searched the internet looking for any possible updates for the ice-link.

I have pretty much come to the conclusion this thing is a complete POS or my headunit wont display ID3 text (which according to everything i have read it does)

any other ideas, before i return this thing or throw it in the trash? thanks for your help./

Refer to this article:

Let me know your firmware version on the ice>Link. Since the ice>Link hasn't been offered in some time - chances are you have an old firmware version.

If you are running 2.05 - that is the reason text will not display. I will need to know your exact firmware version, there are different procedures for each.

Email me directly with your firmware version and I will send firmware and instructions on how to update.
