Aftermarket Amp needed with pioneer D1?

Ok so i have purchased the pioneer D1 and am about to purchase the bezel from rich. I went to my installer the other day to get a quote for installation. At first he said i would need to buy another amp to power the speakers, but then he went and looked the car up and he said that i wouldnt need to that had a kit avaible for it and he could use the factory amp. So my question is before i get any deeper into this is do you have to have another amp or can the factory one be used? Because i have read on here many times you cant bypass it or something.
By the way i have a 2000 With DSP

I never heard of any kit that allows you to interface with the DSP amp. You can connect to the regular amp as it can accept audio input from your head unit. The DSP amp is totally different. It won't even turn on without the Business CD and MID connected. I just installed the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 in my X5 with DSP amp. I had to disconnect the amp and directly wired the head unit to the speakers (via the speaker wires that were connected to the amp).

Make sure your installer understands that you have the DSP amp. As a matter of fact, why don't you test his knowledge and ask him what is the difference between the regular amp and the DSP amp, if he doesn't know, take your car somewhere else.
