DICE Text display

Hi and Merry Xmas to all.
I have just returned home from work (late on 23rd Dec). I have been out and about in my X5 so that I can play with the iPod DICE integration unit I fitted myself.
I am haveing a few problems with it which I hope can be easily diagnosed. I keep loosing the text display. This is also accompanied by strange operation of the steering wheel buttons. The music always plays but when the text dissappears I can only advance a track or fast forward it. If I reboot the iPod it does not help, if I switch off the radio and restart - no effect, stop the engine and restart - no effect. If I leave the car for a longer period it also did not seem to help. The text seems to return for no discernable reason.
I have a 5G Video iPod 80gb, latest firmware, Nav, Bluetooth, no DSP. Any ideas?
