Question to our vendors

Yeah! I know already what you are going to tell me, once you have integrated your ipod the CD player is a prehistoric thing ...however let me still ask the question ... Do you guys have anything enabling to keep both inputs and switch from one to the other?

We offered a source selector at one time, to be honest we found that most people would install the device and still never use the CD Changer. Eventually, it was discontinued.

You can keep the CD Changer and swap the connections when you feel the need, but once you get used to the DICE kit and the iPod - the CD Changer will be a thing of the past.

Thanks Tom, I may think about putting some switching device together then. I would still like to be able to listen to some CDs from time to time.

I don't have the switching option. But like you, at least IMHO the iPod as convienent as it is, is still no match for the sound of the CD player.

Using AAC compressed files - it is very hard to tell from CD quality, especially in a moving vehicle. Do keep in mind that you have your Business CD in-dash unit if you wish to retain CD capabilities (non-NAV).

With me I want MP3 CDs. I do not have the changer. I have an aftermarket head unit that I switch a couple times a year from unit to unit for some reason. I personally do not like the iPod for my personal use. The DICE is a great product for iPod users and cannot be beat. If it came down to me choosing I would choose CDs.

Just my opinion Oh and I can hear the iPod playing in terms of quality. There is a difference between iTunes download and the bought CD. It would seem to me they would have made them equal but it seems they did not.

I purchased a the switch of Tom at EAS and it is nice to have the option to switch back to the CD but I have only done it a couple of times to be honest once was when I was going on holiday and had the I pod packed in hand luggage,I could have listerned to the radio instead but I did not have to. The other time was when I left the i pod at home in the Docking station. The other problem is when using the CD if you turn the ignition off goes back to CD1 track 1.

It really is just personal taste. Some people like CD option, some like iPod and some like radio/Sat.

The iPod is a GREAT product and so is the DICE. It is easy to use and realiable. It is just not for everyone.

To each their own! We will be here to support whatever you decide to add to your BMW
