question on the Ice>Link

I am a little confused on the Ice>Link. It states you can have up to 5 playlists. If you want to play other songs not in playlists then you are out of luck? Can you control what plays through the stereo by selecting a song from the ipod itself.

Thanks

The 5 play lists correspond to the 5 pre-set buttons on your radio unit. Preset number 6, if pressed, puts you into the configuration mode for the IceLink.

How I have mine set up is I use the first 4 presets for song categories I frequenly use (for example, play list 1 is for Pop Hits, play list 2 is for Country Music, play list 3 is for Classic Rock, play list 4 is for New Age Jazz) and then in play list 5 I have all the songs on my iPod assigned to it.

Yes, you can control what plays through the stereo by selecting from the iPod itself. I find it easiest to just unplug the iPod from the cradle, select the song I want on the iPod and then just pop it back into the cradle. Very easy.

Additionally, you can select disk 6 then fast forward to enter the iPod menu. As my iPod is installed in the trunk I navigate it using the OBD on the instrument cluster. Scroll to "Playlist Browser" then fast forward. Next scroll to any on the playlists on you iPod and choose the one you want by selecting it (fast forward). Disk 1 will show on the display and the selected playlist will begin to play.

Took me almost 5 days to figure that one out...

So if i choose a song by using the ipod itself that is not in a playlist it will play. What happens if I hit FF on the car stereo.
