I've got the OEM TV Bumper antenna in my E46 M3 and it works really well. I do live in a US downtown area and the TV broadcast antennas are pretty closeby. Perhaps thats why ....

I have one film antenna and the other lead is not connected yet. I get nice reception in San Jose area, about a dozen stations, along with the two or three music-video stations. During the travels around the town, the signal gets blocked sometimes by the high mountains but overall, the quality is ok. While in DC, I was getting about 18 stations, some good and some were not as good. In DC I actually used (don't laugh!) my old cell phone antennas, two of them.

I will look up the part number for the SMB connector and will post the link for you - DigiKey is the place to get them, along with FAKRA connectors if you need them and the whole bunch of other ones...

BTW, that is San Jose in Costa Rica, not in California..

Here we go:

Go to www.digi-key.com and look for these

A4026-ND for SMB RG-174 STR GOLD
A28327-ND for CONN SOCKET 22-26AWG 30 AU CRIMP connector - this is the one that you stick into the BMW plugs
WM2515-ND TERM CRIMP MALE AU 22-24AWG - this is a male connector for the various BMW plugs

Have fun,
