Question IceLink on a 2005 X5 4.8is with DSP

Hey everyone!
I got an IceLink kit as a birthday present from a good friend. I took my SAV to the place where he bought it from yesterday and the installer told me that since my X5 is equipped with DSP the IceLink will not work I did a search and found out that there is a DSP converter...Do I need to get it in order for the kit to work??? Thanks
