Infinity speaker replacements?

I was wondering if this setup, with a little modification because of the size of the mids would work. all speakers are 2 ohm. Setup costs $339.98 with free standard shipping. www.onlinecarstereo.com

Tweeters: Infinity 1011t 2 1" silk dome tweeter
Mids: Infinity Kappa 32.7cf 4 3.5" mids (might need modification)
Mid Woofers: Infinity Kappa 52.7i 4 5.25" mid woofers

Looking for all inputs.

are you planning to keep the stock amp? With BMW sound system the speakers really need to be paired with the stock amp in frequency otherwise you will not get a good reason. Why not going for the BSW speaker upgrade package instead this? That way you are sure it fits your BMW perfectly in size and frequency.

Each Infinity speaker handles the frequency ranges that the OEM handles but with a wider range.

if your looking for a kickass upgrade you have to go after market. The BSW upgrade is overpriced and trust me......they are not that much better IMO

I will retain the OEM amp and I alreadydy have a JL Audio sub and amp. I am thinking of replacing the door speakers with the infinity kappa set.

Because we haven't done a side by side comparison of these drivers next to our configuration, I can't comment on audio performance. I will tell you that our solution has been engineered specifically for your vehicle both in terms of physical fit (direct fit with plug and play connections) and optimization for your vehicle's audio system.

I expect that a significant amount of modification would be required with those speakers and that you'll find that performance is not comparable to our solution, but without having seen or tested that configuration, I simply can't say exactly what you'll find

Totaly disagree. I am an audiophile (home and car). Having spent way too much money on cars and home, I love the system that BSW has for the X5.

Yes, it is not as well defined and does not have the sound stage that my $7500 M3 Cab show car has, but it is as good as 99% of the 3000-4000 systems I have heard for a lot less money.

The sound stage is well represented with good overall tone and clarity.

If you do not want to go this way, I would not look at the Infinity's the OP is asking about. Making aftermarket speakers work in a BMW with factory amp/dsp is a nightmare and unless you have a good return policy or are a very good DIY installer, you may be left with something you cannot use.

thanks
Brad
