we us either the JL A1200 or the Alpine MRP-M450 with any stealth box that contains a W1V2. the A1200 fits in the factroy CD changer location for a completely stealth installation. all you will need to keep your stock source is a Good LOC. If you change the headunit you will need a set of RCA cables. I have done quite a few budget upgrades for folks that don't want to tear out and start from scratch. we commonly change the source unit to an aftermarket unit that gives you Ipod as well as a Highpass filter for there front and rear channels out. I actually just completed a similar system last week. The customer opted for an Alpine CDA-9885 the HPF makes the stock speakers sound good and then you use the SUB out to control the level for the stealth box.

Unfortunately I do not have pics. The one thing that I am not a fan of with the stereo swap is the kit. you have to have the door in the open postition once the new stereo is installed. I am working to find out if a kit that is available from BMW for the previous 5 series works in the X5. that will give a nice clean look because it replaces the radio and door.

This kit is for the 5 series but, I am pretty sure that it will fit the X and give a nice factory finish but it comes with a higher price. 75.00 instead of 25 for a generic kit like metra or Best.the area where the EQ is a Pocket
