A couple of questions from a newbie.

Hey all. I'm new to the X5 board but not new to the brilliance of such forums. I'm a member of e46fanatics but had to sell that car and ended up with my X5. It's an 01 4.4 w/o NAV and w/ DSP.

I just got a really great deal on an XM commander and wanted to hook it up in my car but I've got a couple of questions. There is no cd changer in the back and I know there is a 3pin connection. I couldn't find the 6 pin but I didn't look to hard. I have the ICElink out of my 330 and want to put it in the X5 but I also would like to have the XM. I read that Blitzsafe has an adapter that has pass through to re-connect the cd changer. My question is: Is the cd changer plug another 3 pin that I could connect to my ICElink or is it impossible to have both. Also, Will that ICElink I have work in the X5?

Thanks in advance.

First off, :welcome: to X5world!! Glad to have you with us.

The reason you aren't finding the 6-pin connector is because you have digital DSP in your vehicle, which uses a coax connector in lieu of the 6-pin connector.

The IceLink will work, but you'll need to use the DSP adaptor kit that Dension offers (which I believe is also something you can get at RadioShack). I don't have any direct experience with the BlitzSafe adaptor, so I can't help you there.

Good luck!!

I'm scared that if I get this. It will be the wrong adapter for the cd changer and I won't be able to use my Icelink.

The Dension DSP adaptor to use the IceLink with digital DSP runs $70 according to this page - http://densionusa.com/merchant/merch...ry_Code=IA_BMW
