Aux. Input Jack

Saw this aux. input jack on bmw's website and i'm thinking it doesnt take over the ability to use your CDC. Just want to make sure i'm correct. I guess it's because you dont get steering wheel controls and such?

AUX is what is referred to as a "dumb" input, meaning there are no controls - only audio. This will however, retain use of your CD changer:

Auxiliary Audio Input - e39/X3/X5 Business CD

Just pick which one you need.

I have a X5 with Nav and DSP. How easy is this AUX IN to install? I am handy.

Can't wait to get tunes off my Blackberry Curve in the X5!

The diagram shows I need to get behind the head unit, but not how. This is what I was worried about in terms of complexity and identifying the right plugs, etc.

Suggestions?

Thanks for the help! I'll be ordering one soon probably. I'm not too fond of the DICE system.

It is really easy. To remove the nav screen, check this article: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...n-removal.html

Basically while the nav monitor is in the 'up' or 'open for cassette' position, you can pop off the frame. Once that is removed you will see 4 torx screws that need to come out then the whole unit easily comes out of the dash. That's it. Once you are back there you will find a loose cable for the aux input connection or it may be bundled up with another harness but it is not hard to find.
