sub amp install wiring where?

I found some install stuff, but how come no one has anything where they tapped into the old subwoffer(if you can call them that) to wire in their new amp? can it be done this way? there are more then jsut two speaker wires in the connector so I dont know which is which but is this possible?

Yes, you can wire your sub amp using the existing wire that goes to your OEM sub. You can tap into the female plug that goes into the OEM sub. There are 4 pairs of sub wires (for 2 dual voice coil subs). I'll get you the wiring info.

Sub1
Yellow/Brown+ Brown-
Blue+ Brown -

Sub2
Blue/Red+ Blue/Brown-
Blue/White+ Blue/Brown-

Pick one of these 4 pairs if you want to use the high-level input on your sub amp

Looking at the plug, there are 12 pins, 8 are used (4 pairs).

ok I got it now, didnt realize that those little speaker things were dual vc, no why in the heck did BMW do that? that is jsut pathetic, 5 inch dvc speakers for subs?
on another note, I had disconected the two 5 inch and my stereo sound exactly the same, well almost it was a little less balanced but still same amount of ...well bass, if that is what you call it. but then put in the sub and wow. now I jsut dont know if putting in the amp is worht it? It sounds good to me without and I dont want to be gansta style but at the least I guess with the amp it will be sound quality difference.

Hate to resurrect this one (a whole year later). Has anyone tapped the factory sub signal for aftermarket? I just bought an 04 w/o factory sub. I am asuming the wiring harness will be present. I plan to hide my amp in the right hand side compartment and this would make for a nice clean install.
