Can I use any BMW Sirius box in '07 X3?

It has the prewiring in the back cargo area. Can I simply grab any BMW Sirius box from Ebay and plug and play? Or, do I need a specific part that will work with this particular vehicle?

Thanks in advance - Mike

Not every Sirius module will work. Do you have navigation, because that affects the compatible modules. Also, some of the earlier modules have dual antenna inputs, which means you would need an antenna splitter, if your car is pre-wired with a single antenna lead.

These are the parts that would work:
65.12-0 416 377 The newest module; comes with 1 yr Sirius subscription when purchased new
65.12-0 398 140 I believe this is identical to the -377 module, but it did not have a Sirius subscription when new
84.11-0 153 365 Only compatible with navigation-equipped cars, and it has the dual antenna inputs
84.11-0 141 981 Only compatible with non-navigation cars, and it has dual antenna inputs

Mike,

I got your PM last night - aren't you running XM already?

Tom - I have the XM/Blitzsafe module that I kept from my '04 E53, but I couldn't get it to work in the X3. BTW it's a non-Navi unit. I'm not wedded to either XM or Sirius (prefer Sirius though), just looking for satellite radio.

Brian - Thanks for the info. Interesting that BMW sells the module both ways.

Thanks guys!
