Any idea how to tell the solely analog version from the digital/analog version (i.e. anyone know the part numbers)?

Not sure on part numbers of the actual modules but the retrofit kits for tv functionality according to the ETK are:
Analog 65-50-0-153-184
Analog/Digital 65-50-0-397-393

Interestingly the 184 part has been replaced by the 393 part.

The ETK lists a number of TV video modules but unfortunately does not specify whether they are individually analog or analog/digital versions.

Found this post which lists many of the part numbers for modules:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ernatives.html

Not much information comes up when searching the ETK or other sources for those part numbers to determine if they are digital or analog.

That post seems pretty old and many of the part numbers don't even come up on the latest ETK. I have no idea from where they were obtained.

This is a great Thread.
Please keep it alive until a resolution is found. Have there been any similar topics on other boards?

I have an anolog turner I purchased from NAV/TV about 3 years ago. I would be very interested in a "converter" that would work with this unit.

First, there would be no integration. If you used the composite video output, you would have to set the BMW TV on the A/V setting, and then use a separate remote to change channels on the digital tuner. Second, the BMW TV module is designed to use the diversity amp TV antenna feeds. My hunch is that reception from these antenna feeds might not be so great into a converter box, so you would have to use a separate TV antenna.

Dont waste your time. The hybrid tv tuner will not work with USA digital tv transmissions. Europe uses a completely different system.

Can you give us more information...
  • What product did you choose?
  • How did you connect it to your BMW TV module?
  • How did you connect it to an antenna?
  • How do you control it?
  • Etc.?

Used the AV in via the AV input lead via an AV multiswitcher (clarion)
  • How did you connect it to an antenna?
Seperate digital antenna on the rear screen
  • How do you control it?
Hard wired a remote sensor to the ashtray, trying to fit a PAC-SWI at the moment so it can be contolled via the steering wheel.
  • Etc.?
