Confused about DSP/non DSP - Analog/Digital ??

Hi guy's...
I bought the DICE Silverline kit. Wired up everything and have the programming part left.

A few questions though:
1. I do NOT have the Coaxial cable (it's not there at all) on my CD changer I do have the 3-pin and the 6-pin cables.

2. Here's the confusing part, I do have the DSP choice on my NAV screen, but do I need the DSP adapterkit as well? (I bought this just in case...)
Has there something to do with having Digital or Analog DSP-module?

3. How do I program the DICE to get it working properly? Don't quite understand the guide on the PDF-document on bavsound.com
Hope to get a step-by-step guide - since I'm a newbie on this...
(Since I've already tried to program it once, I probably should start from scratch again - so reseting everything is a good idea I guess...)

My car details are as follows:
- X5 2003
- DICE Silverline kit
- iPod Touch v1.1.4
- Big NAV screen
- DSP option on NAV screen

Hope someone can help me out here - I just can't get it to work...!!

The newer "New Gen" radios installed from 2003 on do away with the direct digital cable from the CD changer to the radio. So, if your CDC does not have the coax cable, then you do not need it nor the DSP adapter kit.

(I don't have a DICE, so I can not answer your questions about programming it.)

DSP vs. non-DSP is not the same as analog vs. digital or coax vs. 6 pin

DSP is digital sound processing. Your vehicle either has it or it doesn't. Easiest way to tell (as you noticed) is via the onboard menu - you have a DSP option, so you have digital sound processing (an eq and couple other features).

The other points you reference all refer specifically to how the cd changer communicates with the radio or amplifier to give it a signal. There is the "digital" method, via coax or the "analog" method, via 6 pin harness. Both are functionally equivalent in that they provide a signal to the amplifier that it can then modify.

The "DSP adapter kit" is actually an analog to digital converter, and is used only if you have the coax cable installed. Since you have the 6 pin harness, you have no need for the adapter kit.

I also do not have DICE, so no luck on #3 ...

You do not need the DSP module, connect the DICE kit and you should have instant sound.

Tom: So I guess I don't need to program the thing either? Just choose Disc 6 and Track 6? Then press Disc 1 at the end?

Ok, so here's an update:

I took away the DSP-adapter and it actually worked!! I now get sound, BUT, I cannot seem to use the steering wheel navigation to skip tracks. When I try to skip tracks it only increases/decreases sound on the Dice unit, why?

I also do not get any text to show up, why?

Are you pressing the correct buttons on the wheel? Do the radio controls perform the same action?
