Subwoofer Comparison/Install

Hi All,
Just so you know, I spent quite a bit of time, doing "search" and reading older threads BEFORE posting this new thread! Recently bought pristine '05, fully loaded, EXCEPT Premium Sound/DSP (Could care less about the DSP !) ~ I wanted to install a good Sub, still using the stock sound system, (can't do a full BSW Stage1 upgrade at this point). I KNOW everyone is blown away with the BSW 8" Stealth - Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Infinity Basslink1 or 2 10" Subs, how they compare to the BSW, and is there much of a difference in quality between all three - Anybody had any experience comparing between the two manufacturers, and the DIY install of these? ~ I've seen the video of BSWs, just seen online pix of the install for Basslink). Reason I ask all this, Basslinks are available on Ebay discounted CONSIDERABLY less that BSW units, (If you look, for almost HALF the price) BSW's aren't on Ebay at all... 'would help to save a few hundred here n there ! ~ ~SORRY 'bout the long-winded story, n THANKS !!

I don't like the Basslink at all. The lows are very muddy for my taste (the Basslink are discounted for a reason - you get what you pay for). If you're not going stealth, which doesn't look like you are if you're considering the Basslink, then a separate amp & sub/box would sound much better...not costing too much more. The installation of the amp/sub wouldn't be much more difficult than the Basslink.

I did it about 4 years ago, which was before anyone offered the stealth solution and I didn't want to pay big bucks for a custom job...so I did it myself for about $450. I used an Alpine MRP-M350 driving a JL audio 10W3 in a sealed ProWedge enclosure. IMHO, it is definitely worth it over the Basslink. The bass notes are deep and solid thumps. And if I really need the space to haul stuffs, remove 2 speaker connections and out goes the box...can't really say that about the Basslink. Here's a picture of my setup.

I believed the cheapest deal for the BSW stealth was during the product intro a year or two ago. I can't recall the price, but you should look at the group buy forum or the BSW sponsored forum if you're curious
