Remote Wire For Amp

Hi All. I need help locating a good source for a remote wire for my amp? I have a 2001 BMW X5 with DSP & NAV. I have seen articles that say I can use wire 13 from the radio, but I think that only applies to 2002+ X5s.

No matter what anyone tells you, do you have a voltmeter to test the wire?

I've been using wire 13 as my turn-on and it's been working fine.
