Blowing CD changer fuse with grounding of DICE

I have tried to get rid of the whining noise from my DICE iPod adapter by grounding directly to the body. I spliced into the brown wire of the and grounded directly to the car but it blows a fuse as soon as I connect the 3 pin adapter. Maybe I should just ground from the DICE unit to the car and not have spliced into the adapter?

That brown wire (on the DICE harness/middle) is +12V, it should not be grounded. You should be grounding the #1 wire on the 3-pin adapter which is brown on the BMW side.
