Dice with 120GB ipod
I installed the Dice silverline kit with a 120GB ipod classic in my 2004 X5, analog DSP and nav system. No text display, no steering wheel controls unless I set the Dice dip switch for the car to "old business cd or cassette" setting. With this setting I can control the ipod If anyone has this combination and it works, please share your dip swith settings and any other tips. Thanks. I contacted dice electronics support three days ago and am still waiting foe a response!!! ![]() I notice in the Dice literature they mention a 80GB and 160GB ipod, but no 120GB ipod??? What gives?? |

With the DIP positions all UP (default setting), I got sound through the system, but no control form either the steering wheel, radio unit or the IPOD. When I changed the car setting DIP position, I can control selection through the IPOD but no text display on NAV. Volume control works on the steering wheel and radio unit, but I can not select playlist, song or artist except direct from the IPOD. This is the setting I have kept so far, but it is far from adequate.
It was a straight forward install, so I am baffled. Can you suggest anything I should change? |

1. Disconnect iPod from cable 2. Remove battery cables, negative first 3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system. 4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes 5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last. 6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed. Let me know if these steps correct the problem.

Followed your instructions to the letter. It appears to have improved the function control from the Nav and the steering controls, but still no text display.
The display only shows Track no and "Dice". I tried track 2, 4 and 5 under the CD6 setting. Some of the ither info that displayed was Aux 1.04, Core 1.4 and Ipod 1.10. Under the ipod settings menu, software is 2.1.1. No playlists, artists or song names. show on the display and the Ipod control wheel is locked. Do you have any other suggestions? ![]() Last edited by captx5; 04-06-2009 at 05:59 AM. |

There is only 1 120Gb iPod, the current Classic (Gen 2 Classic), available in Silver or Black aluminium finish.

I tried the CD6/Track6 setting and get a text display. Large letters, limited no of characters. I am wondering if I got a faulty unit, or is something interfering with the unit. I have a retrofitted ULF installed in place of the BMW assist unit that came with the car. There is also a satellite radio unit installed in the car, which I do not use. No other modifications. any further advice would be appreciated. |
