Is there a random/shuffle function with ipod interface?

I have just purch a 2008 E70--with factory ipod--I have been unable to put it in "shuffle" mode which would play songs at random from the ipod?

Is there a way to shuffle ipod music thru the interface?

There is a Random mode. When a Song is playing hit the Idrive button, and highlight Random.
