JL Stealthbox arrived this week

I decided to go with the stealthbox. I actually ordered it back at the beginning of the month. It was back ordered and didn't arrive until this week. This thing is very well packed. The box was taped and stapled together. Here are some pics.

I flipped the box upside down to get the woofer out.

I ran into some problems though. I wanted to use the JL bracket and just keep the factory bracket with the factory subwoofer. Well when I try to attach the JL bracket the supplied screws are too short! Here is the JL bracket turned on its side. I ended up using the factory bracket. Anyone else have this problem?

I also could get the top bracket to fit. The hole on the JL woofer is not aligned with the factory hole! This one is a show stopper. I don't have a work-around to secure the top of the sub. I'll be contacting my seller tomorrow. This is not what I expect from a product that cost $550!

Oh I have a JL Audio A1200 amp. It sounds really good with the factory system. The bass fills the cabin now and sounds much fuller. You can hear more of the music and it actually makes everything sound better, or it gives me the perception that the other speakers sound better.

I will be upgrading the other speakers next (once I get that top bracket issue resolved).

I didn't run into any alignment issues or bracket issues on mine. Should be easy to fix. Enjoy!

Sorry you are having issues with your install. Always a buzz kill when you get in there and can't finish up an install

I wanted to get it from Crutchfield but their website has been showing it out of stock for weeks now. I ended up ordering from Al & Eds (al-eds.com). I only got it from them because they are an authorized JL Audio dealer. I wanted this box under a real warranty just in case something like this happened!

Total buzz kill. As soon as I get this woofer issue worked out I'll be contacting you for some speakers. I am sure I'll have better luck with you guys.

Interesting, what made you go with the JL woofer but going to purchase bsw speakers? I would think that the bsw sub and speaker combo is a better match.

To be honest with you it has been very tough trying to figure out which way to go. It is very hard making these decisions based on forum comments without having a chance to actually hear these speakers. Both these companies are great in that you can return them but really I don't like buying something if I really don't know if I want it.

I decided to go with the JL Audio subwoofer because I listen to a lot of music with bass and I figured the 10" may give me a little more punch.

I actually don't plan on getting all the BSW speakers. More than likely the midranges and the tweeters. I have read a few complaints\comments that the BSW midbass do not put out enough bass. But their tweeters and midranges are great. I am actually still thinking through this process and will contact BSW to get their opinion. I really don't want to bother with midbass speakers that put out very little bass.

I just got off the phone with customer support over at al-eds. The tech said that JL Audio makes these boxes from a mold. He doesn't understand why the hole would be off. They will get back to me tomorrow as JL Audio is on the east coast and is already closed. I'll keep you guys posted.
