There no amp under the CD Changer?
Can anyone help me locate which wires I need to use for the high level output? I am in UK, the car an X5 2005 (facelift), it has 16:9 screen, 3 speaker front, no dsp, bluetooth and navigation. Really struggling, been taking more and more panels of the back but no joy. Is the UK wiring and locations different to US? |

Initially, having only three front speakers is very strange. You should have one mid-bass and one tweeter on each front door, and two midranges on the top of the dash. What about rear doors?
Pics would be very helpful here. Would you try to take a pic for the CD changer compartment? The amp is far down and you can only see the plug on top of it... Do you have a plug like this? ![]()

Sorry I explained badly, when I said 3 I meant each side front. Yes I have 2 in the front dash, 1 mids on each front door, 1 tweeters on each front door, and 1 seaker in each rear door. So I think pretty standard setup.
As for this amp, I put my hand right down there, its empty, I found this thread on uk x5drivers forum BMW X5 • View topic - Where's my amp this done the trick, so I think on some UK models the amp is somewhere in the TV tuner box. Sounds real nice too, and such a cheap upgrade, as I had the amp, sub, low level converter and all the cables from a previous setup. Now I need to figure out if I can get a gain control into the front cockpit, as levels vary so much depending on the source and recording levels it would be nice to be able to adjust. Although its a pretty cheap Mac Audio (mp2000) amp, so not sure I can do anything. |
