Anyone had original DICE and then DICE Silverline?? Better??

I have an original DICE and am getting sick of the poor sound quality - hissing and cracking noises while the iPod is playing. I have installed the ground loop and that didn't help. Was just curious if anyone has had both and if it is worth the money to dump my current DICE and get the new Silverline.

Hi i have both and do not recomend the silverline. In my e53 i have squeeling at higher volume levels and with the text enabled on the dash display i can hear the text scrolling very annoying.I was promised these issues would be resolved and they would fix mine about 3 months ago but have still not been contacted im still waiting. The dice unit in my other car has been ok much less noise.

How long have you had your kit? Is your BMW equipped with DSP?

Tom - I have had my kit for a few years now - you replaced it once. No, I do not have DSP - base Business CD. I also have the clicking noise of the scrolling text. I have found if I unplug the iPod (Nano - 2Gen) while it is playing and plug it back in the noise goes away, but it will soon return.

Moving to the Radio interface kit (or just the harness with your present kit) would be best as this usually cures the issue on extra-sensitive BMWs.

i have the dice silverline - going to sell it though. After Nav upgrade i'm going to the Intravee II setup. Never had issues with silverline other than it sometimes doesn't scroll.

i still have original dice and it did that sometimes too (the noise).

Is the "Original Dice" the same as the Ice Link Plus? I've just replaced my Ice Link with a Silverline. I spent a lot of time trying to resolve sound quality and interface issues with the Ice Link. Replacing with the Silverline was easy and solved all my issues.

ILP ceased distribution in the US back in 2005, it hasn't changed much. The DICE kits offer more features and is much more stable.

In my e39 (non-NAV and non-DSP) I had 3 different set ups. First I had the Ice Link Plus, then the original Dice and then the Dension Gateway 300.

I kept changing to see if there were better controls on each one, in the end they were all very similar. The audio quality was great throughout the board. My favorite one though was the Gateway 300. Easy install, great controls, and it has a CD Changer Retention kit that works with the e39 and the e53.

When I traded the e39 in for the e53 I forgot to take the Gateway 300 out, so I lost it. Tried to have the dealer give it back to me so they wouldn't budge. In looking for a new kit found the Intravee and really like its controls on the NAV screen so I went down that round. Really like it but there are some quirks that drive me nuts.

I had the HD dice and got engine whine. Every time I installed the noise filter it just blew a fuse so I gave up. Bought an upgraded head unit off of e-bay so I could install Sirius. Then I bought a aux in kit. I am extremely happy with the AuxIn kit since now I get really good sound quality.

The Dice wouldn't let me control my new gen ipod or my iphone 3g so it really is no loss using AuxIn. I am actually thinking about getting a bluetooth audio receiver (a2dp) that connects to auxin so I can hide all the wires to connect to my iphone 3g when the 3.0 version comes out. I am running the beta now but am hesitent to purchase the a2dp receiver as who knows what will end up in the final version of the upgrade.
