Volume cuts off after a few minutes

I have a 2002 X5 with/nav and the volume cuts off after a few minutes of the stereo being on. Once the volume is off I can not hear the navigation voice either. This problem seems random as it doesn't always happen. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the stereo cutting off (orange light is off) or the volume is muting?

Did you recently upgrade your Nav software?

The stereo stays on (orange light is on), but the volume is off or muted. No, I haven't upgraded the Nav software.

It sounds like somehow the unit is losing connection to the i-bus (or is not responding to the i-bus poll that it is there and alive)

That's wacky. Check your harnesses on your Nav unit if you haven't done so already.
