2006 x5: Want to install Intravee II / KCA-420i / DHA-S690
I'd like to install an Intravee II and Alpine DVD changer in my 2006 x5, for ipod, cd, and dvd capabilities. I've read recently that the DHA-S690 is supported by Intravee. I figured I'd get a disc changer that played cds as well as dvds, especially because they're about the same price. A couple of questions: - How will the DHA-S690 work with the Nav system? Will it have full DVD movie viewing capabilities, CD playing capabilities? - I'm tracking down a Intravee II. Do you know if it's possible to update the firmware on a mac? Thanks! |

I don't know about the DVD but my CD and ipod work fine with the Intravee II following the upgrade to their latest firmware a couple of years ago.

The software app for the upgrade runs on a PC, so grab a copy of VMware or borrow a PC for the day from someone you know who is less advanced. You need to register and ask nicely on the forum to get it - and then its quite a lot more advanced than the shipping version. My mirrors fold in when I lock the doors now for instance. There is no video feed from the Intravee to the head unit - it plugs in and acts via the CD changer interface. Not saying your quest is impossible, but I don't see how it would be easy. |
