Do you have the panoramic sun roof or standard?
The way you would mount it would be to remove the overhead courtesy lights in the center of the car and plan to mount your overhead unit in place of it. You need to drop the whole headliner down and determine how to mount a support base to hold the weight of the overhead unit that wont distort the headliner when replaced and wont interfere with the sun roof funtionality. It varies from unit design, so its hard to say exactly how to go about it. But you're definitely not just just mounting it to the headliner shell itself and plan on losing that center courtesy/dome light assembly if you are going to mount an overhead video unit.

Which system did you buy and can you post some photos? The BMW setup is quite robust and installs well, if you have that setup hopefully you have the proper instructions.
