Hi - I’ve just purchased a UK specification 2005 X5 with the Communications Pac k (TV, Sat Nav, Bluetooth) and with Hi-Fi speaker upgrade (non-DSP). I’ve had the Ice Link Plus installed professionally. This was the quadlock connector version installed by accessing the radio tuner under the spare wheel.
According to the Ice Link Plus instructions and web material on the headunit I should be able to see track ID tags of the artist playing, and after accessing CD6 access a menu system that would enable the potential access of the entire contents on the IPOD (30GB Video). None of these functions work as expected Also the IPOD display is completely locked and no user intervention is possible unless I disconnect the IPOD, this isn’t a major issue as the IPOD is mounted in the boot/trunk, but it’s contrary to the instructions. So all I have access to are playlists 1-5 on the IPOD. One positive side the steering wheel controls work for track changes, the IPOD charges and the sound quality is superb, its just the lack of functionality I find frustrating. Has anyone else suffered similar issues and know of a solution to resolve the menu and ID tag issue? Are there any other alternatives to Ice Link Plus for the IPOD worth considering for my specification of X5? |
