03 X5 Business Radio Module to replace 02 SatNav TV, possible?

HI

I'm sick of not being able to have AUX in my pre-Aug 02 X5 (With SatNav TV & DSP).

If i'm to replace my radio with a 03 Business Radio Module, part# 65.12-6 922 512 off a 03 E39 5 series, will this work with my exist standard system?

Thanks

No, that radio module probably does not have aux input. That was one generation prior to the first confirmed part number with aux, and it was discontinued in 2002. I would not buy it unless you could confirm prior to purchase that the original owner used it with Aux. Here is a post that lists the bord monitor radio part numbers and their known features. If you get one of the newer radios, then yes, you can add aux to your car.

I would give it a maybe. I know from first-hand experience that radio part number 65.12-6 919 080 does not have aux input. And, I know from first-hand experience that radio part number 65.10-6 933 089 does have aux. I have not read any documented confirmation that radio 65.12-6 922 512/513 has or does not have aux. The dates look good in the ETK, and it is allegedly from a 2003 model year car.

The other thing I cannot find is BMW documentation that states when all cars started coming with Aux capability. One BMW OE installation guide states that the kit is only compatible in cars with "with In-dash CD and without Navigation" in vehicles produced 9/2002 on. This could imply that the E39 with navigation did not get an aux-capable radio until later in the production year. However, I can not find an installation guide that explicitly states that cars with navigation are also compatible with aux from 9/2002 on.

If the price is right and worth the risk, go for it. Even better, if the eBay seller can confirm that the radio was in a car with Aux, then you have very low risk. Just keep in mind that if it does have Aux, it was the very first radio with aux, and BMW replaced it after 3 months. Its successor part 65.10-6 933 089/090 was in production for almost two years.

How about this part number 65.12-8 382 367 ? It's not listed on that list so i'm not sure. It's off a 2001 E39 or E38.

I don't know what that part number is. Based on the year of the car, it is probably not even a BM53. Also, it could be a Asia-Pacific model. Here is a post with the only clue I found. Plus, another person who had that part number was from the UAE and had a 2000 MY E39.

Radios with that number, 8 382 367/368, are listed as being for

It's an early business radio. 2001 and before. Oceania area. Look for the 368 number on the ETK to find it.
