i will be working on the cover for the interior. Like I said the sub sits about 1/2 inch closer to the cover than the factory crap did so the cover needs to be modified a bit.

pics to come.
Ohhhhh Winnipeg....the toilet town of Canada! (I can't wait to get away from this area after school is finished!!! We get killer summers, but its the BRUTAL winters I just cant do anymore!)--- 80 miles South would put you right around the Pembina ND area if I'm not mistaken? I usually ship all my parts up to Neche ND, and do a quick hop across the border to grab them as the major shipping companies like to rape us with brokerage fees for bringing stuff across!

Bump! Any updates on this?
Are you still enjoying the setup? Any flex in the plastic enclosure?
Thinking of doing the same.
Thanks.

we like it alot, we ran into some problems wiring everything up but the box it self works good with the exception I cant put the cover back over it.

I used 3/4 mdf for the front and i either could have routered a ring into it to sink the sub back about 1/4 inch or use 1/2 inch mdf. that would have gave me the clearance i need.

the bass is good, doesnt sound muffled and punches hard if turned up. It will never sound like a large box or ported sub set up but its 100 times better than stock and you can feel the bass now.

we had some wiring issues also, i tried to follow the BSW instructions but for some reason I have a dsp system with out the navagation so some things were a bit different. then I had a battery draw on the car after the install i traced back to a jl audio line driver I was "advised" to use but a local stereo shop and that did not work but left the power wires hooked up and it caused a draw for some strange reason but all is fixed now.

its nice to have a stereo where the bass is turned down below the half way mark (middle setting) and you still get lots of bass.

over all a good set up and dont see any issues with the plastic/wood hybrid box as of yet.

oh forgot to mention... the relay and fuse panel above the sub rattles like all get out and i am not sure how to quiet that down and dont see a place to really move it to with out much hassle.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear its working well after sorting out the hiccups. I may PM you with some questions on how you glassed the face to the stock enclosure. Hope to get started in the next week or so. Stuffing the surround with foam won't help the rattle?

I'm interested to see how the cover could be modified to work with our set up.

There was one post where the cover was cut and a grill mounted in the nice hole. That would help volume and clarity without being too distracting. I just can't get around how to do it w/o trashing the fabric on the inside, something I don't want to do...

I have a few thoughts on the grill aspect of this build, i wana put the stock covers back on but they need to be modified or.... the speaker hole in the box needs to be routered in 1/4 inch so the sub sits back further in the box.

i tried stuffing the fuse panel with all sorts of things and it plain rattles. I may hot glue the relay sockets into the plastic mounts to quiet them down and cover it maybee.

ill post some pics when i get going on the grill.
