HELP: Dead Radio
Wife was carting a cooler in the trunk and forgot to secure the drain plug. Now I had the "self leveling suspension inactive" warning on my OBC (which I'm assuming is a shorter out relay and the radio will not turn on. I have nav and all of the right side controls (nav, settings, etc.) work, but the knob on the left, while illuminated, will not turn the radio on.
Has this happened to anyone? Is the radio module and/or electronics or fuse in the wheel well also? Thanks in advance... RSZ |

yes, it is. your radio module, possibly PDC, and trailer is there.
i would take everything out and disconnect the radio unit and let it dry. |

WARNING: Do not disassemble...
is what it should say on the braces, screws, nuts, bolts, covers and cases that seperate the cargo area from the radio module. Man I have never had to remove so much to get to a radio in my life... welcome to BMW I guess.
Anyway just like you thought the area was full of standing water (UGHHHHHH)... so I dry vac'ed the area with the hope that tomorrow will bring a dry well and some good news. I have to admit though that this is without doubt the dumbest place to put electronics. |

You won't find anything fixed.
SAME thing happened to me. I needed to go to the dealer, I'll se if I can get the recipet out, but it was around 1500$. Exact same situation. Go figure. Radio's dead. Suspension is inactive. The car rides roooough.

First... THANK YOU for your experience and knowledge.
I went into the wheel well and removed all of the water. The next morning my X had stopped beeping, but the suspension and radio were still dead. Off to the Stealer... I told then that I suspected a dead radio module and suspension relay. They chose to ignore that and begin a complete inspect/diagnostic... 30 minutes.... one hour... 90 minutes... "We've been working on the radio for over an hour and we will unfortunately have to charge you a $300 (2 hour labour) charge to continue". I insisted that they simply swap the radio out... well whatdoyaknow it works... NO CHARGE. Now I have to wait for them to get the relay (2 days) while I drive a rental, paid for by the stealer, so it's a piece of crap Nissan Sentra.... but at least it's covered under warranty. |

Sentra SE-R?
![]() ![]() What about the air suspension. Are they sure that it's just a relay?

Yeah right... more like:
They believe so, but I don't know how they can be sure if they didn't test it with the part yet. |
