That sucks... but please post here with an update after you get it installed. My wife and I are anxious to upgrade the audio (and technology) in our X. Thanks for being the first (that I've been able to find).

Will do. We'll see...not too sure what to expect.

Heres the setup I went with. Waiting for parts to arrive:

Avin Avant 2
Rear View Camera
Alpine PDX V9
JL Audio Stealth Sub
Keeping stock speakers....not interested in paying to swap out and mount custom sizes into our cars. Honestly if it weren't for the stupid stereo or some module dying...Id be fine with it. I drive quite a bit for a work, so I NEED a stereo to work. Mine is just not consistent.

Ill post up again with updates.

How did the install go?

I have an 04 4.4i and am having the same issue as you with the radio intermittently dropping out. Driving along it will just cut out for about 5-10 seconds then come online again. Strange thing is I replaced the battery and it makes the problem better but after a while it starts happening again. I also have a spot on the LCD screen (this is already my second screen) so wnat to change out the OEM unit.

Ill PM you what I PM'd another member. Everything is solid in my ride..no issues. Love it and wish I did it sooner. Sounds amazing too...Stock Mids...definitely very involved in the installation part though. Camera was a pain, but worth it.

So this unit supports non-DSP? Is it plug and play? I have a 2000 X5 4.4i with stock navigation non-DSP.

Also does it work with steering wheel controls and stock boardmonitor OBD functions (i.e. avg speed 1/2, avg mpg 1/2, temperature, etc...)?

--Thanks!

I think you're good with Non-DSP.

As far as the stock controls...ha, yeah, gone...(can't reset or anything) as the module is gone when you replace it unless you install it in your glove custom somehow and just use it for that.

The Avin has Bluetooth option for OBDII port that gives some functionalities...I haven't exactly set it up to track mileage, etc. But I do use it for other key functions and monitoring when I think something is fishy going on with the ride.

Steering controls for Volume and Track +/- work fine.

Hey Guys

We just uploaded the latest software update for the BMW Avant-2 units dated 06-08-2015

Email me at [email protected] for a copy of the update software.

Change log:

Fixed pre_installed_app unpacking bug in the previous update. Make sure to use a sdcard that is clean that you just fully formatted it FAT32 and only have the update folder on it to perform the software update. If this is not done you might get stuck at the app unpacking stage.

1. Added new AVIN boot animation. Replaces the old "Android" animation.

2. Added "Media Volume Control" app that adjusts the media volume automatically according to your cars speed.

3. Added "VideoReg" Demo app that works with our Front DVR Camera. It has a lot more advance features then the "tachograph" app. You must set the video resolution and front camera resolution in the app settings to 1280 x 720 for it work.

4. Added "SETTINGS" link in the CarHome launcher for easier access to system settings

5. Added the following apps: Ulysse Speedometer, AirPin for use with iPhone Airplay, PowerAmp, HERE Maps, and updated other apps

6. BMW / M Logo can now be set as the boot logo
Go to system settings - factory settings (password 0000) - Set boot logo. After selecting the BMW logo restart the unit.

7. Updated all Google apps, including Google Maps, Google Play store, Google Services, Google Search

8. Added "1Mobile Market" an alternative to the Google Play app store (Google Play Store is still installed).

I am working up an installation guide for this deck, including front facing camera AND a very viable DSP work around. I plan on having it done by this Friday and will make available to the forums ASAP.
