Want to install sirius, circle won't sell it to me, now what?

My X5 is a feb of 03 production date. Chris at Circle said that they weren't compatible until 10/03 and can't even sell me the parts. Now, I've read that you can upgrade the module in the spare tire well and have the factory sirius setup, how can I buy the parts if they go by your VIN?

And what's the part # on the module I'd need?

Thanks

well, i wanted to do the same thing in my '03.
i bought, what i was told, an '05 radio module.
but, if u read my other thread concerning "Sirius
Issues," u'll see that even though it may have been
an '05, that doesn't necessarily mean it has Sirius
Software. my only advice is, if ur gonna buy one,
make sure whoever sells it to u will accept returns.

i was told that BMW used the same part #'s for
the radio modules from 2001-2005. hopefully, ur
luck will be better than mine.

The couple of dealers around me will not take returns on electronics that have been opened. Buyer beware.

This is incorrect - the compatibility is 10/02 or later. Contact me directly and I will be more than happy to provide a complete kit and instructions for installation.

You do not need a new tuner as yours is compatible according to your build date.

BMW was all over the place on tuners, there are over 25 part numbers alone for the e46 lifespan and 3 different manufacturers.

Tom - I believe that is correct for the non-nav vehicles. Vehicles with nav didn't support Sirius until later. The 2004 and 2005 nav radio modules support Sirius.

The 2003 nav radio module does support AUX, but not Sirius.

I'd be willing to test this theory. I'm told it's the OS that will not display the Sirius menus correctly on the CD-based NAV systems. Update the OS to v26 and it should be compatible with Sirius.

If someone would like to try out on the forum, I'd be happy to provide the equipment needed. If someone is local - even better, and I'll install the equipment myself.

I'm game. In my 2001 X5 I have a nav radio module from a 2003 that reportedly doesn't support Sirius. I got this from TesV12 (Todd) when he upgraded his 2003 radio module to a 2004 so that he could have Sirius. I only wanted AUX.

I also replaced my MkIII with a MkIV (I'm on V26), and my 4:3 display with a 16:9 display. The only thing original about my nav system is the wiring and GPS antenna

Awesome, send me over your shipping info in email and I'll get you my tester kit to try it out with. Can you get me the PN off your tuner as well? We'll speak about the details in email.
